Quick question FAQs - how does our cloud platform, CloudActiv, compare to other cloud solutions?

CloudActiv is an active-active cloud platform so it’s naturally resilient as standard. In simple terms, this means that your server, servers or websites run on two identical platforms from two separate data centres. When you make changes - edit files, upload documents, update your website etc. - your servers replicate automatically to both sites in real time, meaning that your changes are made twice - once to each site. Basically, you have two cloud platforms running in real time tandem.

This means that if the worst happens, and as a provider we lose an entire site (which is a highly unlikely scenario in itself) you can carry on as normal as your data will be served from the second site. This failover is instant, and automatic so there is no downtime.

And on top of this, because we own and run our own data centres, resilience, reliability and security have always been fundamental to what we do.

We are one of the only cloud providers that is happy to show you, and actively encourages you, to come to site and see where our infrastructure runs from so you can see for yourself the levels of resilience that are built in behind the scenes. We do enjoy seeing how wowed potential clients are when touring the site!

Our cloud platform is operated in the same data centre facility as our colocation services so it benefits from A & B power, N+N uninterruptible power supplies, N+1 generators and all the data halls are cooled with N+1 cooling, while multi-tiered transit delivers connectivity to the platform.

We only ever fill around 50% of our cloud platform at each site too, which ensures that should local hardware failures happen, we can still deliver the service with no downtime.
