It’s been 12 months since Jordan joined us on his Unified Communications apprenticeship, and we’re excited to announce that he has passed his course with flying colours and is now a fully fledged member of the TeleData team, having accepted a full time role with us. Congratulations Jordan!
We caught up with Jordan for a socially distanced chat, and found out what he’s been up to and how he’s found his apprenticeship.
You’ve completed your apprenticeship! Well done! … how does your role feel now, compared to 6-12 months ago?
Every day I’m becoming more and more comfortable with the work. I feel confident working to resolve customer requests now. Of course there are things that I need assistance with, and some elements of the job are still too advanced for me to work on, but overall I feel like it is going well and I can see a big difference in how competent I am now, compared to when I started.
What have you learnt?
Near enough everything that I know now!
What qualifications / accreditations / exams have you been successful with?
I had seven activities to complete during the apprenticeship, which were related to Installation & Cabling and Network Technical Support.
As part of the apprenticeship, the courses I completed are - Business Processes; Network & Architecture; Mobility & Devices; Coding & Logic and Windows Server Administration. I also did two courses whilst on furlough - Software Development Fundamentals and HTML5.
Have your thoughts about the industry changed at all in the time you’ve spent at TeleData?
Not really - I still find it exciting, and things are changing all the time with new developments and technologies.
If you could go back in time 12 months and give yourself one piece of advice, what would it be?
Make more notes! Often an issue will come up, and I learn how to resolve it, but it could be months before that particular issue crops up again. I wish I'd written more down now!
Which elements of the apprenticeship are you enjoying the most?
I've enjoyed all of it equally. It has been great learning new things, every day brings something different and new.
What has been the most challenging aspect of the past 12 months?
I would say generally it has been a tough 12 months. Due to the Covid19 pandemic I was unable to complete some of my work, which made it all a little bit more rushed. Learning the role has been challenging, but the more I have been doing, the more comfortable I am getting.
Keep up the good work, Jordan! And welcome to the TeleData team!
