What is private cloud?

Private cloud is a dedicated cloud environment that usually sits behind a firewall. These environments can either sit on-premise, or off-premise at a data centre. Unlike public cloud, private cloud infrastructures are built specifically for an organisation’s particular requirements, with no shared resources. This can bring additional levels of security and data privacy.

Why should I choose a private cloud environment?

Some businesses are unable to utilise shared cloud resources due to security or compliance regulations surrounding or governing their industry. Examples could be finance, legal or healthcare. Because access to private cloud environments is limited, they bring an additional layer of security compared to public clouds, which ticks the right boxes for industries needing to meet specific compliance requirements. Private cloud can also bring increased flexibility, better resilience and in some cases, cost savings.

Another consideration is the workloads that need to be hosted. Some more traditional line of business applications simply won’t be supported in a public cloud environment, and stateless workloads such as those typically associated with research and development, are often best placed in a private cloud environment.

Teledata’s private cloud platform

Teledata’s private cloud platform is active-active. Active-active architecture is essentially two cloud platforms linked together, running simultaneously. Any data or online assets that are saved to, modified, or updated on the primary platform, are automatically replicated to a secondary platform. This brings an additional layer of built in resilience.

Our private cloud solution is delivered as a completely bespoke, single tenanted VMware® platform, designed and built with the secure performance of your business-critical applications and data as a priority.
