This week, we welcomed a group of Year 10 students from The East Manchester Academy to TeleData, as part of the Manchester Digital, Digital Futures programme.
Digital Futures is a digital skills, curriculum support and careers insights programme for schools and colleges in Greater Manchester.
The Digital Futures Experience Day, designed by TeleData, gave the students the opportunity to see first hand how a data centre works, with tours of the facility and the chance to learn about the critical role data centres play in emerging technologies such as Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things.
A series of interactive workshops taught the students about the types of innovations that are made possible through the advent of new technologies, while getting the chance to design their own product or application in the Invention Workshop. Some fantastic ideas were put forward by the students, and the winning team was rewarded with a prize of Echo Dots.
A careers workshop gave students the chance to discuss the many different career choices available in the technology industry, asking questions to TeleData employees to help them to understand the various routes into the industry.
Anna Nicholls, Marketing Manager for TeleData said; "It was fantastic to see how inspired and motivated the students were by what we had to show them. They were engaged and excited throughout the sessions, with some truly brilliant ideas and comments which really showed us the potential these young people have to go on to great things in their future careers."
